30On January 6, the delivery ceremony for SUNWARD's SWE1650FLR long-reach excavator was held with great fanfare at SUNWARD Industrial City. As SUNWARD's latest ultra-large model in the extended-reach excavator segment, the SWE1650FLR achieves a technical breakthrough with the highest tonnage and longest arm length in its domestic class, marking a new milestone for the company in high-end engineering equipment manufacturing. Over 100 attendees, including SUNWARD management, customer representatives, and employee delegates, gathered to witness this significant moment.

In his address, SUNWARD General Manager Xia Zhihong emphasized that excavator operations remain a strategic pillar for the company's long-term development. After over two decades of dedicated cultivation, SUNWARD excavators have achieved an installed base exceeding 40,000 units in Europe's high-end market and gained widespread global recognition. In 2025, the company will continue to drive the excavator business toward premium, intelligent, and green development. It will accelerate the R&D and commercialization of electrified products and industry-leading models, expand into mature markets like Europe, and achieve new breakthroughs in emerging markets such as Africa and the Middle East.
The SWE1650FLR, developed under SUNWARD's “pioneering innovation” philosophy, features a 10.8-meter boom paired with a 7.7-meter reinforced dipper arm. This combination achieves comprehensive breakthroughs in operating height, depth, and coverage range. With a maximum digging height of 17.2 meters, maximum digging depth of 13.3 meters, and maximum digging radius of 20.5 meters, it efficiently handles challenging conditions like highway and railway high slopes while meeting large-scale operation demands in ports, terminals, and bulk material yards.

Equipped with a 4-cubic-meter heavy-duty bucket, this model maintains robust single-cycle capacity even with its extended reach, delivering “uncompromised power despite extended arm length.” This provides reliable support for large-scale infrastructure and overseas construction projects.
According to the project lead, the SWE1650FLR's development stemmed from market demands for “higher, deeper, farther, and more efficient” construction capabilities, while embodying the R&D team's relentless pursuit of technological boundaries. The product integrates multiple industry-leading innovations and has secured over ten core technology patents.
In terms of the power system, the SWE1650FLR employs a globally pioneering dual-power system solution for its tonnage class. Two mature 90-ton-class power platforms work in tandem to achieve an efficient balance between power output and fuel economy. The hydraulic system features a highly integrated design with four main pumps and two main valves, complemented by paired working cylinders. This significantly enhances overall machine coordination and operational fluidity in complex working conditions.
For safety and maintainability, the SWE1650FLR fully implements “convenient maintenance” and “human-centered safety” principles. Key features include integrated primary filter layouts, dual lubrication systems (fully automatic centralized and semi-automatic reel-type), and intelligent one-touch reverse-rotation dust-cleaning for cooling fans—all enhancing continuous operation capability and maintenance efficiency.

Additionally, the elevated panoramic cab, 14 high-brightness LED lights, four-camera surround monitoring system, and multiple emergency stop switches—combined with a modular anti-slip maintenance access design—provide comprehensive safety assurance for both operation and servicing.
The successful delivery of the SWE1650FLR marks another significant achievement in the extended-reach excavator segment for Sunward Intelligent, following the batch delivery of models like the world's first ultra-deep excavator SWE950ELR, as well as mining and port models such as the SWE750FLR and SWE600FLR. Currently, Sunward's extended-reach excavator portfolio spans 10 models from the SWE150ELR to the SWE1650FLR, establishing the industry's most comprehensive tonnage and application coverage.
It is reported that the SWE1650FLR will be shipped to the Middle East to participate in key overseas construction projects. Its official delivery not only demonstrates SUNWARD's steadfast commitment to redefining construction boundaries through technological innovation but also highlights the capability and responsibility of China's high-end equipment manufacturers in continuously responding to global market demands.

Moving forward, Sunward will persistently pursue a development path centered on high-end, intelligent, and green technologies. By deeply understanding construction scenarios and customer needs, the company will continue to develop internationally competitive products and integrated solutions. Taking this delivery as a new starting point, Sunward will further integrate its R&D innovation capabilities, manufacturing synergy, market insight, and service support to propel China's high-end equipment manufacturing toward world-class standards.
