In April, construction projects in Cambodia’s Takeo Province were in full swing, with the sound of machinery echoing across the construction sites. The much-anticipated second phase of the Phnom Dechou Integrated Water Resources Project officially commenced. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet attended the groundbreaking ceremony and delivered a speech. Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin and Song Hailiang, Chairman of China Communications Construction Group Co., Ltd., were invited to attend and deliver remarks.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, a fleet of Sunward Intelligent excavators made a collective appearance. Subsequently, this equipment will participate in the project’s construction, undertaking critical tasks and providing strong support for infrastructure development along the Belt and Road.

The second phase of the project spans approximately 151.6 kilometers and is being constructed to Class I (3,000-ton) inland waterway standards. Upon completion, the project will connect major water systems such as the Bassac River, the Mekong River, and the Tonle Sap River, establishing an efficient inland waterway transportation system. At the same time, the project will develop in synergy with the Kim Kong Expressway, which is invested in, constructed, and operated by China Road and Bridge Corporation, forming an integrated water-land transport network that will promote local transportation connectivity and industrial development.

For this project, multiple SWE375F and SWE385F large excavators from Sunward Intelligent will serve as the primary construction equipment. These models feature powerful performance, high operational efficiency, and energy-saving and environmentally friendly characteristics, making them capable of handling complex working conditions. They have already been widely deployed in numerous large-scale engineering projects.

Participating in the construction of the Phnom Penh-Dezo Integrated Water Resources Project further enhances Sunward Intelligent’s brand influence in the Southeast Asian market. At the same time, it provides a strong practical example for deepening infrastructure cooperation between China and Cambodia and promoting high-quality development under the Belt and Road Initiative.
