Two SANY SCC3200T-1 crawler cranes are active in the Fremantle Traffic Bridge Replacement Project in Western Australia, demonstrating their extraordinary lifting strength and high adaptability in complex infrastructure projects with their outstanding performance.
Demonstrating Excellent Strength to Meet Difficult Challenges
The Fremantle Traffic Bridge adopts an innovative cantilever and cable-supported design, which is designed to optimize traffic flow, enhance vessel traffic capacity and create an iconic gateway image for Fremantle. 320-ton SCC3200T-1 cranes are perfectly adapted to the needs of this complex project with their powerful lifting capacity of 320 tonnes and the flexible configuration of 75-meter jibs (including 43-meter luffing jibs). Equipped with Tier 5 double rotary Cummins QSL8.9-C325 engine, the SCC3200T-1 crane meets the stringent environmental standards while ensuring efficient operation.
Complex project, fine management
The project is led by the Fremantle Bridge Alliance (consisting of Arup, WSP and Laing O'Rourke). Facing the multiple challenges of roads, ports, logistics, cultural heritage and environmental protection, the project team carefully planned and deployed four SANY cranes on site, including two SCC3200T-1s and two SCE4800As, which not only ensured the safety of construction, but also minimize traffic disruption and maintain an efficient work rhythm.
Construction Challenges and Intelligent Responses
The project was divided into two phases: the first phase involved the construction of temporary wharves, permanent piles and bridge towers; the second phase focused on the demolition of the old bridge structure. The two SCC3200T-1 cranes played a key role in both phases, including the core tasks of pile installation, foundation work and precast concrete component lifting. Its ability to work without outriggers is particularly suited to narrow quay environments, and its 8.18-meter wide crawler design makes it comfortable even on the demanding ground of near-water operations.
Operator Friendly, Enhancing the Operational Experience
The SCC3200T-1 crane has also won wide acclaim for its operator-friendly cab design. The spacious and comfortable driving environment, equipped with large-sized windows that can be tilted 20 degrees to provide a panoramic view; the 10.4-inch touch screen and ergonomic floating seat, coupled with the integrated camera, adjustable lighting, air conditioning and radio and other user-friendly features, provide great convenience and comfort for operators who work long hours.
